The Vanya Project: A Denver Theatre Ensemble Benefit Reading
Event description
The Vanya Project was born out of a desire to explore a different kind of rehearsal process without the limits of time that are normally present during a professional rehearsal. Director Ina Marlowe used the example of The Moscow Art Theatre to delve deeply into this important and lasting theatrical piece of literature. We have found through a long exposure to the material that the actors are able to come closer to their characters and to each other as artists. Through this process, we have created a company of artists who are dedicated to the exploration of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya. This benefit reading is the first step towards this long-term project.
Denver Theatre Ensemble is a small nonprofit theatre company based in Denver, Colorado. We are so excited to kick off our second season with The Vanya Project as a benefit reading to help fundraise for our upcoming productions this summer. To keep our productions and events as accessible as possible, we work off of a pay-what-you-can model for ticketing. Tickets are a suggested donation starting at $20. However, if you have the means and are so inclined, please consider giving more. 100% of your ticket sales and donations from this event will go toward compensating the artists who fuel our future performances, design, and productions that make our artist-centered ecosystem possible. And your donation is tax deductible!
