Event description

The Village Fire Garden,

Cancelled due to CoVid lockdown

It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to cancel The Fire Garden.

This is the fourth lockdown to impact this project, which has ballooned our production timeline from 6 months to a year and a half. While we have persevered until this point, unfortunately we no longer have the resources for yet another postponement.

Our incredibly talented artists and crew met last night to make the difficult decision. While we are all severely disappointed with the circumstances, we still strongly believe in this beautiful project and what it will be one day.

For now, Uncle Ron’s mesmerising story, which has been treated with exquisite sound design by Justin Marshall, will still be broadcasted via MainFM for the general public to hear. It truly is an incredible work in and of itself.

We now have to regroup, and then The Fire Garden will premiere next year.

Already the project is set to tour to Wangaratta and Melton in 2022. We will do all we can to include Maldon in that tour.

Working as professional artists, technicians, storytellers and producers has never been more difficult. But stories like Uncle Ron’s must be told, and we will continue to battle through the uncertainty. We thank you for your ongoing support.

Music, Light, Sound and Story.
The Village Festival and MAINfm present The Village Fire Garden.

The drive-in cinema experience is centred around an Indigenous Creation story of the river country of southern NSW told by Wamba Wamba man, Uncle Ron Murray and features awe inspiring pyrotechnics, giant puppets and beautiful projections.

Our friends from The Taproom are running a bar with snacks and other delicious surprises available.
Tickets can be booked for an entire carload and includes entry to the after
party at the Village Square, Castlemaine.

The Village Fire Garden pays respect to First Nations traditions and it is a collaboration between indigenous and non-indigenous artists and performers living on Jaara country.
