“1918” sprang from a poem, "The Word of the Wind" by Mah Jonggi (1939-), and. also from a reimagining of the contrapuntal devices from Brahms' op. 15 and op. 114. More on www.williamanderson.us — WKA

Robert Pollock's "Burlesque" was composed at the request of William Anderson. It is a rollicking piece that features jesting gestures such as wide-ranging glissandi, accelerating repetitions, and rapid riffs.

Sung hee Joo’s clarinet piece is based on the poem “A Night of Counting Stars” by Dong Ju Yoon, reflecting reminiscence and memory, loneliness and longing, and hope from the poem.

Juhyung Kim’s clarinet solo comes from the poem “Spirit-Filed Buds” by Sang Ku, singing the infinity inherent in sprouts.
