The WAPs Big Kids: Thursday Night Thunderdome
Event description
SIX themmes enter, ONE will leave.... with the only Burlesque Trophy they'll have to hide on work calls, The Golden Vulva!
To celebrate the end of Prompt Creative and launch our new producer incubation program Pilot Light (generously funded with a grant from Lesbians Incorporated), SIX established performers that we admire have generously donated their time to undertake the WAPs challenge: create a brand new act in just 4 weeks with only $50 - WELCOME TO THE BURLESQUE THUNDERDOME!
Same great WAPs flavour - now with ADDED Big Kids! (ooooooh).
Psst: our wonderful performers are donating their time so we didn't feel right taking money for this show either - all profit from this show goes to the Pilot Light Fund (more about this below!)
Prize for best dressed. Theme is: Apocalypse NOW!
Strictly 18+
No Allocated Seating
So What's Pilot Light?
There are a BUNCH of aspiring producers in our scene and we know first hand how overwhelming (and financially draining) putting up a show can be when you first start! We thought that some of y'all might appreciate some training wheels and a financial safety net to take the plunge into production. Also with a bunch of venues closing across the scene, we've lost many of the little hour of power shows that were great for cutting your teeth as a performer and an audience member alike. We're nothing if not solutions orientated bois; So, our own Happi Valley has de-ADHD'd a bunch of tools we've built over the last two years and the wonderful Lesbians Incorporated has provided a grant to kick start the Pilot Light Fund. This is a free producer incubation program designed to help aspiring producers road test the smallest version of their show idea.
This isn't a production masterclass because neither of us are experts (we're a pair of overeducated dipshits with a knack for grant writing, can do attitude and too much time on our hands). This is a production study group - lets learn together.
Pilot Light show pitches open July 1st
