The Way We Breathe Is Killing Us
From Survival Mode to Thriving: The Hidden Power of Airway Health

How efficiently is your child breathing?
We often think of oxygen as the only goal of breathing. But here’s the secret: Oxygen needs its partner, Carbon Dioxide, to actually do its job.
Without the right balance, that oxygen can’t reach the brain or the body effectively.
If a child isn't breathing optimally, their body stays in a "survival mode" (stress response). When the brain is busy worrying about the next breath, everything else—learning, mood, and growth—gets put on the back burner.
There are ‘hidden signs’ that will be revealed during this discussion. Many parents (and even doctors!) see these signs every day but think they are just "normal" quirks.
We’re looking at how breathing connects to: Restless Nights: Snoring, mouth breathing, or poor sleep quality. Daily Hurdles: Concentration, "picky" eating, and mood swings. Physical Growth: Tongue ties, crowded teeth, and tonsil health. Focus: How airway health overlaps with ADHD, Autism, and anxiety. You don't need a medical degree to be on the front foot.
We want to help you spot the "red flags" that are often missed and show you how a team approach—including airway-focused dental and cranial care—can change the game.
The Result? A calmer nervous system, better sleep, and a brain that is fuelled and ready to learn.
Our aim: To increase knowledge.
Open to parents and clinicians.

Meet Your Experts:
• Roger Price: A Pharmacist and Integrative Health Educator with over 60 years of experience. He is the author of The Way We Breathe Is Killing Us and the founder of the International Institute for Orthopostural Education (lOPE). Roger challenges the "disease management" system, teaching parents how to prevent chronic health issues by spotting the early warning signs of dysfunction, • Dr. Louis Chan: A unique clinician who combines Dentistry with Traditional Chinese Medicine. Dr. Chan looks at the "child attached to the teeth." He utilises modern biofeedback and ancient acupuncture principles to treat the root causes of pain and sleep disorders, proving that "healing finds a way" when we treat the whole person. • Shannon Hilkemeijer - BodyIQ Health Integrative Therapies Osteopath and Homeopath Shannon is a holistic Osteopath with over 24 years of experience supporting adults and babies. She works with people seeking relief from head, neck and jaw pain, breathing difficulties, nervous system stress, and persistent body tension that hasn’t resolved with other approaches. She has a special interest in babies experiencing feeding challenges, breastfeeding difficulties, oral tension, birth strain, digestive discomfort, and unsettled behaviour. Shannon understands how early development, nervous system regulation, and breathing patterns influence feeding, sleep, and overall comfort. Trained in Osteopathy in the Cranial Field (advanced cranial therapy), she also works with jaw tension, tongue-tie related dysfunctions, and oral-facial development. Her goal is to help both adults and babies feel more regulated, comfortable, and able to function with ease. Lets look at how structure governs function. • Irene Dowton - BodyIQ Health Integrative Therapies Physiotherapist, Bobath Therapist and Instructor With experience in paediatrics, neurology, and tongue-tie support, Irene explores how the tongue connects into the fascial system — influencing posture, swallowing, breathing, and overall development. Her work is grounded in the principle that function determines form — when we improve function early, we positively influence long-term structure and development. • Alissa O’Keefe - Thrive Health Childhood development, lactation & myofunctional therapy Breathing dysfunction can be present and observable in utero and at birth. We can identify the early signs and reduce the impact of the trajectories we see affect development right from infancy. We will discuss the lived expressions and early observable signs plus how you can optimise development, behaviour, learning and therapy for babies & children.
