Dear friends and family,
We are gathered here today to witness and celebrate a union. Before us stands the couple, who promise each other love and commitment, offer one another a home, a sense of belonging across borders.
The Wedding is a one-night immersive art, theatre, and music experience set within a historic former bank in New York City. The project responds to the recent turmoil and violence surrounding immigration, green cards, and visa policies in the United States. All exhibiting artworks will be threaded together through the enactment of a cross-national marriage. A wedding is a ritual. So is how the artworks are presented and experienced at “The Wedding.”
The evening begins with a staged wedding ceremony. From there, the space opens up into a series of simultaneous encounters: performance works emerge throughout the venue for guests to gather around, while video pieces, paintings, and interactive installations remain in continuous dialogue across the space. Guests are invited to move freely, discovering works as they appear and evolve.
As the night progresses, a live DJ lineup takes over for the final hours of the evening, and all visitors will be invited to participate in The Dating Corner, hosted by Isaiah Crawford.
This is not a traditional exhibition. We ask our participants to not only observe but to explore and experience.

Formal wedding attire is encouraged.

Doors Open
Doors open at 7:45 PM. We encourage all guests to arrive early to experience the artworks in a pre-ceremonial format before the ceremony begins promptly at 8:30 PM. Entry after 8:30 PM cannot be guaranteed. If you anticipate a timing conflict, please contact surfacescapeinfo@gmail.com. Additionally, free drinks will only be served during this time.

The Reception
a free-flowing experience where guests are invited to move throughout the venue, encountering performances, large-scale installations, participatory artworks, and video pieces as they unfold. Expect 10+ different explorable areas.
