The Wee Write Inn is a monthly gathering for writers and authors
We learn, share and write.
We host guest tutors either live (in person), or via zoom or show pre-recorded lessons from experts.
Held approximately the third Saturday afternoon of every month: February - November 2023.

AGENDA: SATURDAY 17 JUNE 2023:
We have four key sessions with a short breaks when we need them.
- Session One: 11.00 - 11.15 am: Introductions -quick round intros and icebreaker.
- Session Two: 11.15 - 11.45 am: Quick write. We allow 2 x 12 minutes for creative writing.
- Session Three: 11.45 - 1.15 pm - Main Lesson: Masterclass on Book Covers Design: Theory + Practice session
Have you written a story and want some help to visually communicate the key themes to connect with your ideal readers?
We have two expert Tutors to break this down into a fun and easy step-by-step process.
While at home, we encourage you to enjoy tea and nibbly things and then release your creativity!
This is great fun, especially if you are self-publishing and need to come up with an idea to convey to a graphic designer.
PART 1: THE THEORY: Learn the principles of good book cover design with Julie Lawrence. Julie cover all aspects of design, including WHO are you writing for? WHY is good design important? WHAT you need to think about and HOW to go about it. (Allow 40 mins). This session is taught by Julie Lawrence, an expert in design communication.
PART II: THE PRACTICE: Then it's time to get out the crayons, pencils or felts with Creativity Queenie Eleanor Girven. Eleanor has over 20 years of experience and loves teaching art. This fun, interactive session is about allowing the creative process to unfold. Eleanor shows us how to let go of our writer's ego to get in touch with our unique creative force. (Allow 50 mins)

Session Four: 1.15 - 1.30 - News + notices: Info for
writers: competitions, retreats, writer's events and travel opportunities.
This is a thoroughly enjoyable session for any author thinking about book cover design. Even if you are employing a professional - most writers need to submit concepts or ideas.

We're a group of writers and tutors who enjoy learning from each other.
We meet in person and on-line to learn, share and write to support each other in the spirit of collaboration.

Mostly writers at the beginning of their journey, who are interested in learning in a friendly, welcoming group.
Every month we host the meeting in a different location, to encourage new members and speakers.
