The White Room - Liz Young
Description
On September 20th, The Glenlyon Community Hall will be transformed by the magic of Liz Young. More than just a masterful violinist, Liz is a force of connection. She’ll have you laughing, crying, and dancing in your seat all in one unforgettable afternoon. Liz will play to your soul with every note, taking requests, and making each person feel like the centre of the performance. This is not a concert; it’s an experience—one that will stay with you long after the final note fades.
Special guest Kris Mizzi will play a few songs with Liz, as a duo they are spectacular!
I look forward to welcoming you to the hall, Bronwyn.

Liz Young
Violinist, fiddler, entertainer and educator Liz Young brings a world of creativity, energy, and heart to every stage she graces with her violin - whether leading the Nutbush, headbanging to Metallica, or playing a soulful tango that moves dancers to tears. A dynamic performer across pop, rock, tango, folk, country and classical traditions.
Liz has toured internationally with the Deep Blue Orchestra, reaching the finals of Australia's Got Talent, and continues to gig widely with projects including The Smashing Bumpkins, Mendoza Tango Quartet, Diez Cuerdas, and Luminescence.
She is one of the world's few flying and stilt-walking violinists, always seeking the next challenge with her violins (affectionately known as Mr Violin and Elektrina).
Recent highlights include performances at Woodford Folk Festival, the National Folk Festival and Tamworth Country Music Festival, where she received a Golden Fiddle Award. Holding formal music training from the University of Queensland under Spiros Rantos and Patricia Pollett, Liz's approach blends skill, playfulness, and audience connection in equal measure.
What people are saying:
"Liz never fails to produce smiles, laughs or tears. Her secret is that she is not only an accomplished musician/entertainer but that she loves her audience."
“Had the pleasure of listening to Liz Young Violin at a live gig today. Absolutely blown away with her talent, stage presence, and connection with the audience. Her music will touch your soul in a way you never thought possible.”

Kris Mizzi
“A deceptively gentle storyteller, his songs, like a good book, resonate deeper and deeper with every listen. Simply beautiful” - Paul Samwell-Smith (Producer Cat Stevens, Yardbirds, Carly Simon)
Winner of 2017 Troubadour Award as well as 2021 Folk Alliance 'Australian Solo Artist of the Year', Melbourne Singer/Songwriter Kris Mizzi is making waves throughout the Folk circuit across the country.
With a 'strong and gentle' voice, and an art for weaving beauty and truth into the words of each song, Kris Mizzi reaches the hearts of his audiences with performances that are joyful, uplifting, confronting, spiritual, comedic and vulnerable all at once.
