The Yarns Men, supported by Hope Upstream Charitable Trust hosts a Christchurch based men only monthly meetup.

This is an opportunity for men from all walks of life to hear an inspirational guest speaker, get tips for managing your mental health and supporting others, and have a yarn over some food.

Our May guest speaker is Ben Reed. Ben is a mechanical engineer from the U.K. now leading New Zealand-based waterjet manufacturer HamiltonJet as Managing Director. Ben has experience with a close friend taking his own life and his mental health challenges. Come and hear his journey, how this suicide impacted him and what wellbeing measures he has introduced at HamiltonJet.

Tickets are $22.50 to cover the cost of a Taco and Beer (low, non-alc, cider or 2 soft drinks if preferred).

What to expect with The Yarns Men event:

To run for approximately 1.5 hours
Taco from the Food Dude (who runs the food truck at Two Thumb Manchester Street)
Hear Ben's story and mental health tips
Key takeaways on how to manage your mental health, as well as how to support others
The following questions will be posed to the group, and breakout into pairs to discuss:

What have you struggled with in the last week?
What’s something you want to work on next week?
What are you proud of?
What gives you hope?
