The Young Players Pop-Up Orchestra : Tchaikovsky Serenade for Strings

POP-UP ORCHESTRA WORKSHOP AND PERFORMANCE

26 November, 9:30 am - 1:30pm

On the 26 November 2023, The Young Soloists will expand their ranks with young Canberra string players to form a mammoth pop-up orchestra. 

This "one day orchestra" will workshop and rehearse Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings in C major, Op. 48. and then perform the piece in its entirety for a public audience.

• Do you want to take part in a truly memorable and musically enriching morning with the international Young Soloists and play Tchaikovsky alongside young world stars?

PLEASE AUDITION TO PARTICIPATE!

Audition requirements: please send us a short video via a wetransfer link to masterclasses@snowconcerthall.com

In this video you are required to :

• Introduce yourself.
• Tell us what inspires you to play music and why you want to be part of the Snow Concert Hall pop-up orchestra (max 1 minute).
• Play accompanied or unaccompanied, any piece of your choice (2-4 minutes).

Submission deadline: 13 November, 5:00 pm

Successful applicants will be notified by 17 November with a link to the musical score of Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings.

Regardless, all applicants are welcome to join the audience for the public performance, whether their submission is successful or not. Accompanying family and friends are welcome to purchase tickets to watch the final performance.

10:00am - 11:00am      Full orchestra rehearsal Session 1

11:00am - 11:15am        Tea break

11:15am - 12:00pm       Sectional rehearsals 

12:05pm - 12:40pm      Full orchestra rehearsal Session 2

12:40pm -  1:00pm      Break and preparation for performance 

  1:00am -  1:30pm       Public performance of Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings

POP-UP ORCHESTRA : THE YOUNG SOLOISTS - PUBLIC PERFORMANCE

Our young talented musicians put their newly learned skills to work in a grand finale performance that will include all workshop participants along with the Young Soloists Orchestra live on stage. 

Family and friends are invited to attend and watch as these young artists collaborate to perform  Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings in C major, Op. 48.  

Family and friends are welcome to purchase tickets to the final performance.
