The Big Exhale: A Community Breathwork Hour
Description
A donation-based community breathwork hour at Geelong Wellness Collective
Sometimes life feels heavy, and we all need a little TLC. Between work, family, responsibilities and everything else life throws our way, it's easy to keep pushing through without taking a moment for ourselves.
So we're opening our doors for The Big Exhale — a donation-based community breathwork session created to give back to our local community and offer you an hour to slow down, reconnect with yourself and simply be.
Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, mentally exhausted, carrying a lot emotionally, or just curious about breathwork, this is your invitation to come along.
Through guided breathing and gentle practices, you'll have the opportunity to connect with your body, settle into the present moment and give yourself some much-needed space.
No experience is necessary.
Why we're doing this
At Geelong Wellness Collective, we believe everyone deserves access to spaces that support their wellbeing, regardless of their circumstances.
The Big Exhale is our way of giving back to the community while giving you the chance to experience some of the classes and practices offered at GWC.
Every donation is appreciated, but please don't let finances be the reason you miss out.

FAQs
- Do I need any previous breathwork experience?
Not at all! The Big Exhale is open to beginners and those who have experienced breathwork before. You'll be guided through the session, with options to work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
- What is breathwork?
Breathwork involves intentionally changing or paying attention to your breathing. Depending on the technique used, it can help you become more aware of your body, create space to unwind and support relaxation. No two people experience a session in exactly the same way.
- Is breathwork suitable for everyone?
No. While gentle breathing practices may be suitable for many people, some breathwork techniques can cause dizziness, tingling, changes in blood pressure or heart rate, and strong emotional or physical responses.
If you're pregnant, have a cardiovascular condition, uncontrolled high blood pressure, a history of seizures, significant respiratory conditions, a history of fainting, or a recent surgery or serious medical condition, please seek advice from your healthcare professional before attending.
Breathwork may also be unsuitable for some people experiencing significant mental health concerns, including a history of psychosis or mania, or who are currently experiencing severe emotional distress.
Suitability depends on the breathing technique and your individual circumstances. If you're unsure, please contact us before booking. Your safety and wellbeing come first.
- What if I feel uncomfortable during the session?
You're always welcome to slow down, return to your natural breathing pattern, take a break or stop participating. You never need to push through discomfort or keep up with anyone else. Please let the facilitator know if you need support.
- What should I bring?
Wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle. We recommend arriving a little early so you have time to get settled. Any additional equipment needed for the session will be provided or communicated before the event.
- How much does it cost?
The Big Exhale is donation-based. Contribute whatever feels manageable for you, if you're in a position to do so. This event is about making space for our community.
- What if I book but can no longer attend?
If your plans change, please cancel your booking through Humanitix or contact the organiser so someone else can take your place.
- Who is hosting The Big Exhale?
The Big Exhale will be facilitated by Paula Broomfield, a breathwork and energy healing practitioner at Geelong Wellness Collective. Paula is passionate about creating welcoming spaces where people can reconnect with themselves, explore new wellbeing practices and take time out from the demands of everyday life.
This community session is her way of giving back to the local community and making breathwork more accessible to those who may need a little extra TLC.
