The Common Table - Dinner #2
Description
The Common Table — Dinner #2
Sliding Doors
How choices, chances and circumstances shape our lives
Following a launch event that exceeded all our expectations, The Common Table is back for another evening of good food, new faces and conversations worth having.
This time, we’re heading to Jekyll & Hyde in Lennox Head.
It’s our next stop as we bring The Common Table to restaurants and venues across the Northern Rivers, sharing the experience with new communities and supporting local hospitality along the way.
Whether you’re returning or joining us for the first time, there’s a place for you.
How did we end up here?
Have you ever looked back on a moment and wondered: what if that had gone differently?
Perhaps it was someone you met, a job you took, a risk that paid off or something you never saw coming. Some turning points are obvious. Others only reveal themselves years later.
Our theme, Sliding Doors, explores the choices we make, the chances we get and the circumstances we don’t always get to choose.
How much comes down to our decisions, and how much depends on timing, luck, family, money or where we’re born? Who opened a door for you? And why are some choices easier for some people than others?
Over dinner, we’ll share stories, explore different perspectives and look beyond the assumptions we sometimes make about each other.
What to expect
Expect good food, warm hospitality and real conversation.
You’ll join a small table of people for a shared meal and two rounds of thoughtfully designed conversation cards. Some questions are light, some reflective and some might take you somewhere unexpected.
We’ll guide the evening and help everyone settle in. Our Table Manners are simple: listen carefully, stay curious, make room for others and disagree without being disagreeable.
You don’t need expertise, a prepared opinion or an extraordinary life story. You’re always welcome to pass on a question and share only what feels comfortable.
Bring a friend or partner, or come on your own. Coming alone is very much encouraged. Meeting people outside our usual circles is part of the point.
Why The Common Table?
The idea grew out of Kiri and Josh’s friendship: long conversations, laughter, different perspectives and a willingness to keep listening when we disagree.
We wanted more people to experience those conversations beyond their existing circles. So we decided to build a table for them.
This isn’t networking, speed dating or a seminar. There’s no position you’re expected to take and no argument you need to win.
You don’t have to agree to share a table. Just come curious.
