Granite Belt Choir Groups The Joy of Song
Event description
Be filled with joy!
The Granite Belt Choir Groups are back at the Gallery to entertain with their wide range of music from classical to contemporary.
This year, the recital is presented in special appreciation of Jeanene Chapman, who was musical director of the original choir group and Senior Choir for many decades.
The original Granite Belt Choir group has been entertaining in the Granite Belt since the late 1960’s. The name “Granite Belt Choir” now has four different performing groups.
The original group is now known - at least internally - as the Senior Choir, as its members are over 18 years of age.
The Junior Choir (school aged children) was formed in 2007 to encourage children and nurture a love of singing.
Contempo, formed in January 2010, sing popular music from the 20th century, and is for those who are in denial of their age.
Hollytops, formed in 2020, is best described as ageless – both in the music and its members.
