The Little Spinster Cinema Screening
Event description
The Little Spinster is a Canberra-produced independent feature film. Following a successful Kickstarter Campaign which raised funds for costumes and location hire, The Little Spinster was shot over the summer of 2017-18. Now complete and ready for its first public audience, the film will be premiering at Dendy Cinemas on January 13th, 2024.
The Little Spinster follows the story of Lauren Wainwright, a young woman living in early 20th century small-town Australia. When her family is faced with tragedy and financial hardship, she is instructed to marry into wealth. However, Lauren finds herself falling for the town's new seamstress - and will have to make a difficult choice which could tear all of her relationships apart.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Will Scott, The Little Spinster spotlights a stellar cast of Canberra locals including Kit Berry, Maddison Hughes, Elaine Noon, Jack Zimmer, Michael Ubrihien and Jacqui Henman. Its locations will be familiar to those who have gone for a wander in the ACT, with scenes shot at Namadgi National Park, the Fitters' Workshop in Kingston, the Hall School Museum, Cooleman Ridge and many more.
The screening will begin at 2pm in Cinema 7 at Dendy Cinemas in the Canberra Centre. Tickets can only be purchased through Humanitix (this website), so please do not attempt to purchase tickets through Dendy directly. Ticket sales go towards the cost of hiring the cinema.
