Formerly the site of a public hospital, MaRS DD has become one of the most significant Canadian innovation precincts.

In this series, visiting experts and current Thinkers in Residence: Allyson Hewitt and Dr Ilse Treurnicht will share their unique experiences and knowledge gained during the development of both the ‘architecture’ and purposeful vision for Toronto’s innovation precinct MaRS Discovery District.

Allyson Hewitt is the Senior Fellow for social innovation at the highly successful MaRS Discovery District in Toronto, Canada.

Dr Ilse Treurnicht is the former and founding CEO of MaRS Discovery District. Ilse joined MaRS in early 2005 from her role as president and CEO of Primaxis Technology Ventures, a start-up venture capital fund focused on the advanced technologies sector.
