ThincAngel Program Facilitator: Josh Garratt, Southern Angels

2023 Australian Angel Investor of the Year, Josh Garratt co-founded Southern Angels in 2018 and has grown the group to become the most active startup investor in South Australia. He has assessed hundreds of startups on behalf of members and overseen $11.4 million investment into 33 companies. He has extensive experience in company due diligence as a facilitator for the Federal Government's Accelerating Commercialisation program, and in 2023 he co-founded Eastend Ventures, South Australia’s first ESVCLP fund with a mandate to invest in high growth potential tech companies from South Australia, Western Australia and Queensland. He is passionate about increasing participation in early-stage investing and its potential to have an outsized impact on wealth generation and economic growth.
