Thinking it Through – Ethics with Henry Wellsmore
Description
Ethics Workshop with Henry Wellsmore – Session Two
How do we decide what’s the right thing to do when life presents us with tough choices?
Join us at Progress Hall for the second session of our community Ethics Workshop, led by Henry Wellsmore. Henry brings decades of experience in counselling, ethics and community work, and has a gift for making complex ideas clear and engaging.
In the first session, we explored the influences that shape our values and looked at key ethical theories, from rules and duties to consequences, virtues and human rights. This follow-up session will:
• recap the main ideas from the first workshop
• answer your questions
• introduce further ethical models
• share a practical framework to help when you’re facing a dilemma
The framework encourages us to:
identify the issues and conflicting values
consider who is involved
explore possible actions
weigh up consequences from different perspectives
make a reasoned choice
It’s a problem-solving approach that values reflection over snap judgement. Not rocket science—but not always easy either!
