Event description
Thinning of the Veil is your new favorite tradition. Over the past few years, this production has become a staple among CNY's highly anticipated seasonal events. Thinning of the Veil is unlike anything else you've experienced. This extraordinary production combines Deviant’s innovative choreography, led by Lisa Price, with the visionary artistry of local multimedia artists, creating an unparalleled sensory experience that transcends traditional performance boundaries.
About the Show:
Deviant Productions presents its fourth iteration of Thinning of the Veil, a guided walking tour that immerses audience members in performance & visual art. This year's production includes awe-inspiring aerial acts that defy gravity and a rich tapestry of ethereal dance styles.
This year's production, entitled Spotlight & Shadows,” peels back the curtain on the dual lives of performers—juxtaposing the dazzling spectacle of the stage with the hidden struggles behind it. Set in a vintage circus-themed afterworld, this show is structured around two parallel narratives. Each act reveals the tension between the showman persona and the raw, messy reality of those who live to perform.
Each audience member will be asked to wear a paper masquerade mask, a "veil", through which they will experience the show. Guides will walk the audience through each installation, where performers will meet them. The “veil” that each audience member will engage through allows them to feel disconnected from and immersed in the performance. The artistic vision is to create a space where the audience has the opportunity to view a performance in a new and unique way.
Thinning of the Veil is a show for the senses. It is not intended to be scary; instead, the feeling is eerie, beautiful, and surreal. Begin your spooky season with this captivating and thought-provoking production that will leave you feeling inspired.
