Connect with your Mum this Mother’s Day!

Join The Hunger Project Australia's National Youth Board and iMake Sculptures Studio at this special Mums, Mugs and Microfinance event! Celebrate the day with your Mum, Daughter, Sister, Nanna, Aunt, Bestie or any other special person in your life by making your very own unique mug.

This online event is the perfect opportunity to create something special, even if you can’t be together in person. Tickets are $100 per person and, $30 from every ticket purchased will be donated to The Hunger Project. That means, for every pair of tickets sold, you and your Mum will be donating $60 which is the average microfinance loan amount. Together, you will be empowering one woman to change her life through a microfinance loan!

Your teacher, Irina from iMake Sculptures Studio, will guide you through the process in an online workshop. You can tune into the workshop live or if you and your Mum would prefer to do it another time, a recording will be sent to you. A craft box will also be sent to you before the scheduled event and it will have everything you need to build your mug! (craft kit & shipping included in ticket price)

What you'll get in your craft kit

Fresh clay cube, ready to use
A tool to cut, shape and carve.
Paint brush
Pigment (ceramic stain and/OR underglaze ) to paint fresh clay and create a pattern of your choice; 2 colours per box.
Plastic sheet for handling the slab.
Sponge for smoothing the edges.

What you'll need

Rolling Pin.
Have a sturdy working space, any strong table will do.
A cup with tap water.
Cup (tumbler) without a handle that will help us build a mug.

Knowledge Required

No prior knowledge needed.

Please note:
The cost of firing your mug is not included in your ticket price and usually priced between $2.00 - $10.00. We will give you a list of studios Australia wide who can do this for you. It is not mandatory to fire your mug, however if you choose not to, you will not be able to eat or drink from it. If you decide not to, it could be used as a beautiful vase, knick-knack holder or sculpture.
