three times three hours of yoga practice with Renée Copraij

Renée is a certified Vijnana Yoga teacher and has been practising yoga for nearly three decades. She has studied Asthanga Yoga with Chuck Miller and continues to study each year with Orit Sen Gupta, the founder of Vijnana Yoga.

Vijnana Yoga is a practice of mind and body that strives for simplicity while seeking precision in posture, movement and breath from a deep inner listening and a clear, wide view.

The practice has four components: just sitting, pranayama (breathing exercises), asana (postures) and the studying of texts. These strands of practice create a complete and integrated practice that works on different levels of the body and mind.

During these three sessions we will touch all the components and work on a series of postures that will let the body move in all directions.

DATE & TIME Wednesdays from 10:00-13:00 on the 6th, 13th and 20th of May
TICKETS $150 for the series, single class tickets are not available, this program is designed to be attended weekly for three weeks.

RENÉE COPRAIJ studied dance and art-history. She is a certified Vijnana yoga teacher and has been studying and practicing for more than 20 years.

The yoga has become a tool for observation for the world within and around her.

Copraij worked in the nineties as a dancer with Jan Fabre and later as his dramaturg for productions like Swanlake and Tannhäuser. For many years, Copraij taught choreography workshops at the SNDO in Amsterdam and was artistic advisor for many students. She was curator for Festival a/d Werf in Utrecht where she programmed and produced work on the verge of visual arts and theatre.

From 2012 till 2016 Copraij curated the guest-artists program for ICKamsterdam and returned to performing with Florentina Holzinger, Vincent Riebeek and Marten Spangberg, amongst others.

In 2017 she founded DANSCO, an organisation which represents the work of artists active in the field of dance with whom she has an enduring artistic relationship. Currently, Copraij spends most of her time collaborating with Florentina Holzinger and doing dramaturgy for various artists like among others Cherish Menzo, Maria Kozlowska, Jan Martens and Andreas Hannes.

In 2025, Temperance Hall's on-site self-catered live-in apartment was renovated and converted into the ‘Apartment Studio Residency’. This space offers artists a place to live, work and sleep, and includes a dedicated work space for studio practice alongside sleeping and living quarters, including a private kitchen, bathroom and courtyard.

Temperance Hall's Apartment Studio Residency provides opportunities for artists/collaborations to develop and share new artistic work/choreography/research/experiments with local audiences during their stay.
