Three Voices On....Apocalypse (and how to survive one)
Description
Meeting Ground & Spiritual Misfits, in partnership with Wyoming Community Centre present: 'Three Voices On...'
These nights exist to explore a question, not win an argument. In an era of algorithmic outrage and social isolation, we’re testing something different: can a room full of diverse members of the community sit with challenging questions together, exercising curiosity and imagination?
Here's how it works. We pick a big, hairy topic. We ask three different people to give a five minute 'micro talk' from their unique perspective. A local artist responds to the theme. Then we keep the conversation going over a shared meal. Each night will also raise funds for a local, community project, connected to the theme.
This time... 'Apocalypse' (and how to survive one).
This doesn't have to mean zombies and wastelands. It could mean a job loss, a relationship ending, a natural disaster. Three local voices will reflect on what they know about endings, human resilience, and how to show up when it feels like the world is ending. The real question isn't how we would live in some distant future. It's how might we live better today.
For dinner we'll be enjoying a Middle Eastern Feast from Tarik who runs the following local businesses:

How the ticketing/fundraising works:
We want these nights to be accessible to everyone in the community. Entry is by donation, so you can pay as much or as little as you'd like. We're suggesting $10 to help cover the cost of dinner.
On the night Meeting Ground will commit a $500 donation to a local community cause, connected to the theme/topic. Attendees on the night will have the option of adding an additional contribution to this if they would like, adding to our collective impact.
About Meeting Ground/Spiritual Misfits:
Meeting Ground is a small faith community on the Central Coast. We make a weekly podcast called Spiritual Misfits (spiritualmisfits.com.au), which hosts big conversations exploring faith and doubt, from the fringe places. Our community is made up of people who don't fit neatly into church as usual, and plenty of people who wouldn't call themselves religious at all. Being generous, hospitable hosts is the posture we aim for. Meeting Ground is part of the Uniting Church in Australia.
We're not here to preach, but to learn. We're convinced that the most interesting questions are human questions we all share, regardless of religious beliefs and differences. We're hosting these nights to play our small role in building local community, supporting local creatives and causes, and nurturing the ability to have meaningful conversations across difference.
We're delighted to partner with Wyoming Community Centre on hosting these nights — a beautiful space that truly embodies the spirit of grassroots, local community.
