Instead of taking outside investment and funding they put everything on the line and went all in, funding the company themselves, not paying themselves for 18 months, so that they could protect their mission.
doTERRA knew that these products had to be sold in a person to person model. That they needed education and experiences from passionate people around the world.
So instead of having a retail markup and paying advertising costs or selling in major chains, they use the same marketing budget to pay people like us through authentic social/direct selling.
This model creates the opportunity for individuals and families to achieve their dreams of self-reliance, time and financial freedom.
