Throwing Narrow Forms on the Wheel: Oil Bottle

Led by Grace from Muckware, the session begins with a demonstration of key techniques for throwing bottle shapes, followed by a series of guided exercises. Participants will prepare and wedge measured clay weights, gradually increasing scale to build height, consistency, and refinement. Each participant will create a series of narrow forms, including their own oil bottle, gaining confidence in managing more complex forms on the wheel.

About the Artist
Grace of Muckware is a ceramic artist specializing in functional wheel-thrown work. She studied at UNSW Art & Design, graduating with Honours in ceramics, and has over seven years of experience on the wheel. Since launching Muckware in 2020, her practice has focused on thoughtfully made, functional ceramics grounded in simplicity, durability, and everyday use.

Materials and Equipment
Each participant will have access to their own wheel. All clay and tools are provided. Grace will trim, fire, and glaze finished pieces. Each participant will receive 2-3 pieces and a stainless-steel pourer. 

Additional Information
Suitable for intermediate to advanced participants with prior wheel-throwing experience. The workshop runs for approximately two hours. Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for working with clay.
