Let it Grow: TIA’s veggie growing comp for Agfest 2026 and Soil Your Undies Challenge

Event description

Get ready - our Agfest competitions are returning for 2026 with over $4,000 in prizes for Tasmanian schools to win.

Let it Grow

The school that grows the heaviest carrot will receive a $1,000 prize to be used for the school to develop their gardening program, generously sponsored by Harvest Moon.

First prize also includes an optional tour of the Harvest Moon farm and factory.

Second prize is a $750 prize pack including a WaterUps 1680 Wicking Bed, perlite, and bagged potting media sponsored by Horticultural and Landscape Supplies (HALS).  The school will also be treated to a workshop with one of our awesome entomologists (bug scientists) from the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture.

Third prize is a $250 gift voucher for the school to spend on gardening supplies.

Soil Your Undies

The schools with the most degraded undies will win a prize generously sponsored by the TAS Farm Innovation Hub.

First prize is a bulk HALS soil or mulch delivery to the value of $1,000 for the school and a workshop with an incredible NRM soil scientist.

Second prize is a bulk HALS soil or mulch delivery to the value of $750.

Third prize is a $250 HALS voucher to spend on landscaping supplies.

How to enter?

Simply register your school by Friday, 19 December 2025 and we'll post out an entry pack to schools to coincide with the start of Term 1, 2026. This will include 1 packet of carrot seeds, Harvest Moon growing guide, competition guidelines, entry form and competition labels.

Are you homeschooled? The competition is also open to homeschool entries. The winning homeschools in the Let it Grow and Soil Your Undies competition will each receive a $100 voucher to spend on gardening supplies. The homeschool category will be capped at 10 entries. When registering for the Homeschool competition please select the Homeschool category.
