Free Introductory Zoom Qigong Class Wed 7 July

Attend live, or watch later on demand (as long as you register in advance).

Come and find out what Qigong is all about, and how it can benefit your health and wellbeing! Then you can decide if you'd like to attend the in-person classes at Health Self Yoga.

In this one hour introductory zoom class, you will learn some basic Qigong theory, as well as 'Pour Qi Down', a simple Qigong exercise to calm the mind and replenish energy reserves in the body in just a few minutes.

    Yuan Gong Qigong Taster Class - Friday 9 July

    On Friday 9 July you have the opportunity to join a 'taster' Qigong class to try out Qigong. This is a great way to see if you'd like to join the 4 week training series July-August. 

    The taster class will focus mainly on learning 'Qigong Squats' - an amazingly simple technique for stilling the mind, relaxing the body and enhancing Qi flow in the body. Time permitting we will also make a start on learning Tian Yuan.

    What is Qi Gong?

    Qigong exercises, for health enhancement, illness prevention and personal growth, have been around for thousands of years, with millions of practitioners around the world… but many people are still unfamiliar with these practices.

    Simply put, Qigong is the Chinese equivalent of Yoga, whilst also being unique and different.

    ‘Qi’ (energy / prana / life force) ‘Gong’ (to cultivate / transform’) is the art and science of harnessing the power of nature, and restoring our natural state of inner harmony, in order to transform our mind, body and Spirit at a fundamental level.

    Physical Benefits

    Through simple, flowing movements, certain postures and sitting meditations, we bring our mind to a place of stillness, and restore vital energy which is often drained through everyday living and stressful life challenges. Qigong turns on the natural self-healing abilities of the body, allowing the body to heal from a multitude of ailments.

    On a mental and emotional level, it allows us to return to our natural state of inner harmony, and then live from this calm, relaxed, natural state in our daily lives.     Yuan Gong is also designed as a system to cultivate the heart consciousness and transform consciousness towards greater levels of self-realization, with an end-goal of what is commonly termed ‘enlightenment’ – the realization of the Self.

    Yuan Gong - Holistic Fitness

    'Yuan Gong' is the name for the methods and practices of the Ren Xue health and life cultivation system used to self-heal the body, calm the mind and evolve the consciousness. 

    Tian Yuan is the first of 9 methods of Yuan Gong. It translates as 'Heavenly' Qigong because its purpose is to reconnect with the Qi of the universe and draw it back into your body for energy renewal and healing. It is quick and easy to learn, and simple to practice. 

    You learn to use the mind along with physical movements to facilitate self-healing and revitalization from the inside out.

    One of the distinguishing features of Yuan Gong is that it is safe, easy and effective.

    What problems can Qigong help with?

    Qigong works at a fundamental (Qi) level in the body. For this reason it affects our whole being: body (physical, mind (including emotional state) and spirit.

    In particular, on a physical level, people report improvements in headaches, migraines, stiff joints, rheumatism, sore shoulders, sore neck, restricted joint movement, inflexible spine, digestive issues, sore back, stiff knees and more.

    Note re any potential 'lockdowns' - the classes will still go ahead on zoom if for any reason we find ourselves unable to meet in person. Practicing Qigong via zoom is equally effective, even though it's not quite the same as meeting in person!
