TIAW World of Difference Awards Lunch - Toronto, 18 October 2023
Event description
The "Persons Case' is a Canadian constitutional case that decided on the 18th of October, 1929 that women were eligible to sit in the Senate of Canada. Led by five women ('The Famous Five'), this was the first step towards equality for women in Canada and was the start to the first wave of feminism in that country. These women belived in empowering women, and in their time, and in their way, sought to change the world they saw around them.
We have chosen this date, therefore, to hold one of our 'World Of Difference' Awards events: to recognise not only our Canadian (and other) WODA Awardees for 2023, but also to celebrate this years' Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, Barbara Mowat (who is also from Canada)!
Join us for lunch and the opportunity to hear stories of the incredible women (and men) who believe the the financial empowerment of women changes the world; a belief shared by our event partner:
IWFC TORONTO CHAPTER (iwfcanada.com).
We gather together in Toronto to celebrate our Awardees' contributions and achievements - in line with the legacy of the Famous Five: https://www.famous5.ca
