Tibet in Song
Description
One night only. A celebration of Tibetan music, culture and community.
Join us for Tibet in Song, a special one-night-only fundraising concert featuring acclaimed Tibetan singer and musician Tenzin Choegyal, raising funds for the Australia Tibet Council.
A Grammy and ARIA-nominated artist, Tenzin's music has been described as beautifully evocative, healing and transcendent.
Australian-based and internationally recognised, he brings the sounds and spirit of Tibet to the stage through his extraordinary voice and masterful playing of traditional instruments, including the dranyen (Tibetan lute) and lingbu (transverse bamboo flute).
In an intimate performance, Tenzin will share his distinctive musical world, weaving together the rich traditions of Tibet with his own contemporary artistry. His powerful voice is the centrepiece of a performance that offers a rare opportunity to experience the beauty, depth and resilience of Tibetan culture through song.
The evening will also feature Tibetan monks performing traditional throat singing and chanting, alongside vibrant performances by Tibetan community dancers, bringing the sounds, movement and traditions of Tibet to life.
More than a concert, Tibet in Song is an opportunity to celebrate Tibetan culture and stand in solidarity with the people of Tibet. Every ticket helps support the Australia Tibet Council’s work advocating for the human rights, freedom and self-determination of Tibetans.
One night. Extraordinary music. A powerful cause.

Tenzin Choegyal
Born into a nomadic family in Tibet, Tenzin fled with his family to India during childhood. Growing up in exile at the Tibetan Children’s Village in Dharamshala, he found comfort and belonging in music, especially the beautiful singing of his mother and the bamboo flute played by his father. When he arrived in Australia in 1997, he carried his traditional dranyen, his remarkable voice and a deep love for his homeland. From performing at Woodford Folk Festival to captivating audiences at New York’s Carnegie Hall, Tenzin gradually built an international career spanning more than three remarkable decades. Tenzin's most recent milestone is his well-deserved nomination for Best World Music Album at the 2026 ARIA Awards for his collaboration with American composer Philip Glass, 'Be the Sky'.
