Event description

With 42% of high school students engaging with TikTok daily to learn new skills (McCrindle), it's clear that the classroom is no longer the only place young people go to learn, and the teacher is no longer their only source of knowledge. As students turn to creators, online platforms, and bite-sized content to fuel their curiosity, what does this mean for the role of the teacher, the textbook, and the school itself?

In this panel, we’ll unpack how learning is shifting in a world of infinite access and ever-shorter attention spans, and what educators can do to stay relevant, credible, and connected. Are we competing with the algorithm, or can we co-exist with it? How do we meet students where they are, without compromising on the depth, rigour, and meaning of their learning?
