Tiles & Terra Cotta Part 2: Focus on Art Deco

In the brief period from 1928–1931 a wave of colorful ceramic buildings appeared on the scene. For various reasons this trend was short-lived. But, as if in a time capsule, an outstanding collection of colorful Art Deco buildings remains in Oakland’s Uptown. Once again, we will see examples of various causes of damage and different types of restoration work. Parking meter enforcement begins at noon, so we must stay on schedule.
