The Variety Australia Podcast is setting up a home at JMC Academy Sydney for our third filmed episode on Thursday 15th February, 2024.  As always, we are so proud to be bringing our students along for the ride with our very own Audio Engineering, Film and Television, and Entertainment Business Management students becoming part of the Variety podcast crew to film three episodes with a live student audience. 

Amidst a backdrop of aspiring creatives, Variety Australia dive into real-world learning experiences from some of the most celebrated and accomplished figureheads in the film TV and media industries.

Luke Girgis is the Managing Director and Publisher of The Brag Media, Australia’s largest and fastest-growing publisher representing the most iconic culture brands in the world, including Rolling Stone, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, Tone Deaf, The Music Network, Enthusiast Gaming, HypeBeast and more. Prior to founding The Brag Media in 2017, Luke had already spent over a decade in the music and entertainment industry. During that time, he managed and developed talent across multiple businesses, and also spent time in music label A&R and marketing. Luke is also the founder of VC fund Lamp Post Capital. He now leads an award-winning and passionate team working across The Brag Media’s commercial, content and events divisions and a premium publishing business that reaches over 50% of the Australian population each month.

Joined by Luke is Australian whirlwind Tim Minchin who blends comedy, music, acting, and writing into a potent brew. From award-winning stand-up to composing "Matilda the Musical," his impact is global. He's graced screens in "Robin Hood" and "Californication," even charming as the Artful Dodger. His own series "Upright" and album "Apart Together" showcase his versatility. A champion of social causes, Minchin's Order of Australia honor reflects his multifaceted talent and dedication to art and community.
