The Gospel and Gospel Theology, with Rev Dr Tim Patrick

The gospel is at the heart of the Christian faith, and it seems reasonable that most Christians should have a clear grasp of the gospel and should be able to articulate it to others. Christian theology, on the other hand, tends to be seen as either a highly technical and complex discipline that is the reserve of academics and seminary students, or else as something so loose and vague that we can rightly say ‘everyone is a theologian’. But these ways of thinking overlook the important ties between the gospel proper and classical orthodox Christian theology. Ideally, the gospel should be seen as the entry point for all Christian theology, and all Christian theology should be seen as flowing out of the gospel.
