Join us for an afternoon of local history, community storytelling, and shared memories as we explore the people, places, and legacy of our region's first major industry.
The Camden Haven Historical Society is delighted to welcome a special guest speaker Daphne Salt, from the Wauchope District Historical Society, who will present an engaging talk on the very early days of the timber industry, how timber was felled, transported and milled. Discover the traditional methods, skills and ingenuity used by early timber workers before the advent of modern machinery.
Browse a display of historic timber industry artefacts and photographs.
Help bring our local history to life by bringing along your own memorabilia, photographs, and stories to share with the community.

Guest Presenter
Daphne Salt
Daphne has lived in Wauchope for over fourteen years and has developed a strong passion for the region's history. As Vice-President of the Wauchope District Historical Society, she has researched local history, conducted oral history interviews, and helped preserve photographs and historical records for the Society's archives.
She regularly presents engaging historical talks to schools, community groups and organisations, using photographs, documents and artefacts to bring local stories to life. Daphne has a particular interest in the area's timber industry, reflected in the detailed miniature timber haulage models she handcrafts from local timbers using original historical photographs as references.
