Tin Star
Event description
Brisbane trio Tin Star can be hard to pin down – while they have always considered themselves to have one foot in each of the folk and country camps, they have also been compared to the Bruce Springsteen and Crowded House. These folk and roots underpinnings that have long been a Tin Star hallmark are still there, but after years of playing a wide range of venues and festivals, they continue to evolve. It is becoming clear that over the years, Tin Star have created their own identity, their own acoustic sound, a coalescing of honest storytelling, stunning 3 part harmonies, combined guitar, fiddle, accordion, banjo and trumpet, to craft a sound that is completely their own.
The last few years have seen them performing around the country, predominantly at festivals, including Woodford Folk Festival, as well as many house concerts, folk clubs, Brisbane City Mall, The Powerhouse, and many other music venues. The three members of Tin Star have performed as part of Mick Thomas’s (formerly Weddings Parties Anything front man) band The Roving Commission.
“This is classic songwriting and Tin Star have the chops to make it really catch fire…” Chris Cobcroft, Executive Producer, 4ZZZ
“Music should be about more than just entertainment – at its best, it should make you think and feel, and understand something more about the human condition. There is a complexity and depth to these songs, but they are also appealing and delicious, drawing you into their ideas with sublime harmonies and superb musicianship.” Sue Jarvis, Tamworth Country Music Capital News
