Event description

In an era of unprecedented uncertainty and shifting expectations, the ability to learn and change is more critical to successful leadership than ever before. Paradoxically, the same factors that drive the need for adaptive skills  – increasing complexity, accelerating technology, information overload – mean that many leaders feel that they simply don’t have the bandwidth to learn. One. More. Thing.

Which is why BJ Fogg’s Tiny Habits® methodology is an indispensable tool for 21st Century leaders and the organisations in which they work.

What are Tiny Habits®?

The Tiny Habits® methodology was developed by Dr BJ Fogg, Director of the Behavior Design Lab at Stanford University and author of the New York Times  bestseller Tiny Habits: The Small Changes That Change Everything. BJ’s research demonstrates that only three things will change behaviour for the long term:

a: Having an epiphany

b: Changing your environment (what surrounds you)

c: Taking baby steps.

Option A is unreliable – epiphanies make great stories but are very difficult to generate. Option B can work wonders, but is often beyond our control. Fortunately, Option C offers a simple, practical way to develop behaviour change skills that can be applied to almost any domain of life and work.

Once people learn how to create Tiny Habits®, they quickly begin to appreciate the power of baby steps. And because Tiny Habits® focus on helping people feel good about their successes, they create a positive ripple effect for individuals and the teams and organisations in which they work.

Who should attend?

Tiny Habits® for People Leaders is designed for anyone whose work involves leading others, and who aspires to:

  •  Be resilient, optimistic and action-oriented in times of challenge and change
  •  Develop professional relationships based on trust, mutual accountability and respectful feedback
  •  Communicate with authenticity, clarity and confidence in a range of contexts
  •  Build high-performing teams in which difference is celebrated and belonging is cultivated.

What’s involved?

Tiny Habits® for People Leaders commences with a full day in-person workshop, followed by four weeks of personalised daily support emails and four live online group coaching sessions.

Full-day workshop: Planting the seeds of your Tiny Habits

MANAGE SELF - habits to build positive emotion, stay calm, reduce stress and respond to challenge and change effectively

DEVELOP STRONG RELATIONSHIPS - habits for building connection and trust with others

COMMUNICATE WITH CLARITY AND CONFIDENCE - habits for listening deeply and getting your message across

BUILD HIGH PERFORMING TEAMS - habits for building teams in which trust, accountability and care are the norm

3 weeks in the Tiny Habits online ‘Greenhouse’: Helping your Tiny Habits take root

The Tiny Habits ‘Greenhouse’ membership site delivers daily, personalised emails to participants’ inboxes, to which they respond with a Y/N combination indicating whether they have completed their Tiny Habits that day. The facilitator reads every single email, responds to any queries, helps troubleshoot and suggests refinements to participants’ Tiny Habit recipes.

In addition, participants have access to a moderated membership site, where they can share learnings and celebrate successes.

3 x 1.5-hour online group coaching sessions: Get your Tiny Habits flourishing

An opportunity for participants to:

  •  Explore the models and methods of people leadership and habit formation in greater depth
  •  Reflect on their progress, share successes and learn from their peers
  •  Use behaviour design principles to help others change for the better.

In addition to exploring practical tools for people leadership, program participants will walk away with a behaviour design toolkit that can help them change for the better in any area of their lives. They’ll learn:

  •  The three crucial factors that determine whether our behaviour changes … or not.
  •  How to change behaviour without relying on the (usually unreliable!) factors of motivation and willpower.
  •  A simple, step-by-step approach to finding ways to help other people change that *make them feel good*.
