Tis the Season (Flinders) Vox Peninsula Choir presents Haydn’s St Nicholas Mass, Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols, plus carols for everyone

Joseph Haydn’s St Nicholas Mass was composed in 1772 and is a rich example of his early sacred style – graceful, joyful and filled with warmth. Its lyrical and arching melodies, buoyant rhythms, intricate instrumentation and moments of gentle intimacy make it one of Haydn’s most endearing choral works.

A Ceremony of Carols is one of Benjamin Britten’s most enchanting and enduring choral works, and features an SATB arrangement that enriches the work’s polyphonic textures and expressive depth. Britten’s timeless celebration of the Nativity is both intimate and mystical, radiating Christmas cheer.
