🗓 Wed 28th Oct, 2026 | ⏰ 6pm – 8pm | 💻 Online

Planning for tomorrow. Protecting what we have today.

Real kōrero. Real experience. Real planning.

Join us for our next Te Ara Ako online session, where we’ll explore what it takes to support the long-term future of our marae, whānau and taonga.

This session brings together kōrero and practical insights around succession planning, marae governance, compliance and building strong foundations for future generations.

Who is this for:

A space for marae whānau, trustees, committee members, kaimahi and anyone involved in the governance, administration and future planning of their marae.

Whether your marae is already thinking about succession or you’re just starting those conversations, this session is an opportunity to hear from others, ask questions and think about what needs to be in place for the next generation.

What to Expect:

Succession Planning & Our Marae — exploring what succession planning can look like for marae, and why preparing for future generations is so important.
Learning from Experience — hearing from Whaea Hineamaru about the succession planning mahi undertaken by Papatūānuku, including approaches, learnings and whakaaro that may be useful for other marae.
Building Strong Foundations — exploring the governance, leadership, systems and processes that can support successful succession and help marae remain strong and sustainable.
Marae Compliance & Responsibilities — unpacking some of the key considerations around marae compliance, accountability and the practical systems that help protect our marae and whānau.
Planning for the Next Generation — kōrero around knowledge transfer, leadership development and making sure important mātauranga, relationships and organisational knowledge are not lost.
Practical Insights & Pātai — hear from our speakers, ask questions and share your own experiences and whakaaro.
Kōrero, Reflection & Next Steps — reflecting on what we’ve heard and thinking about what we can take back to our own marae and whānau.

Bring your kōrero.
Bring your whakaaro.
Bring your questions.

Let’s prepare our marae for the generations to come. 🌱

Nau mai, haere mai!
