TLC 20th Birthday Celebration and 'Breathing Space' Book Launch

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

The Tasmanian Land Conservancy is celebrating 20 successful years!

We have grown so much, becoming more capable, diversified and sustainable compared to our humble grassroots beginnings, yet we are still very much a community focussed and enabled environmental organisation at heart!

Please join us at Spring Bay Mill's iconic Tin Shed for a delightful evening of entertaining speakers, feature presentations, music, great food and drink, for all we have achieved together.

We will also be launching a book, commissioned to celebrate the TLC’s birthday. Breathing space is a collection of essays, stories and poems about Tasmanians’ changing relationships with nature, featuring original works from writers such as Robbie Arnott, James Boyce, Danielle Wood and Adrienne Eberhard, as well as a spectacular painting by Richard Wastell commissioned specifically for the book - you can see a detail at the top of this page. Renowned essayist and poet Pete Hay will be launching the book and talking about his own relationship with nature and the TLC.

Hardback copies of Breathing space will be on sale on the night for $50 – it is a gorgeous piece of art in its own right, and would make a delightful Christmas present.

Hitch a ride, or stay and play. The TLC will be running a return coach service from Hobart which will depart Hobart at around 4.00PM, arriving at Spring Bay Mill at 5.30PM, and then departing Spring Bay Mill at approximately 8.30PM, arriving back in Hobart at approximately 10.00PM.

Alternatively, make the absolute most of it by spending a night or two at beautiful Spring Bay Mill and exploring what the region has to offer. Spring Bay Mill has generously offered TLC's guests a 10% discount on their stylish glamping, beach shack and ridge quarters accommodation. Find out more about the coach service and accommodation discount in ticket check out.

This event will follow venue and TLC Covid-19 safety guidelines.

Proudly supported by Spring Bay Mill & Devil's Corner Wines.

All proceeds from ticket sales will go towards the cost of hosting this event.

Breathing space and Richard Wastell's artwork are supported by the Graeme Wood Foundation, Purryburry Trust, Purves Environmental Fund and Bett Gallery.
