Experience Diversity and Regeneration of New Forest at Mikimiki Road
Event description
You will hear stories of the land at New Forest how my partner Joep and I designed and implemented permaculture principles over the years. We moved to bare land 15 years ago.
I will welcome you at the gate, and then we will start in the hall for a welcoming round and introduction. We go for a wander, look at the gardens and orchards, and hear what went well and what was challenging. There will be hands-on activities. Depending on the weather, we will be getting our hands dirty in the garden, or shelling beans in the hall.
Lunch will be provided: Vegan soup and bread. You are invited to bring something small to share but not essential and nothing that needs cooking or peparing. There will also be a crop swap table, for a fun 'give and take' exchange from each others' gardens; if you like, bring seeds, seedlings, produce, preserves from your garden for this table.
After lunch we will look at 2 plants and their healing properties in particular, for earth, plant and humans. Recipes and cuttings will be shared. We will also look at the process of a semi commercial fermenting setup and sample some sauerkrauts.
The facilitated part will close at 2 pm. You are invited to stay on for a hike on the loop track over the 240 acres of regenerating land, and/or look at the outdoor classroom area of New Forest school.
I look forward to sharing with you how it feels to live on the land that has now reached a state of balance and is in harmony with the surroundings. Please contact me on hellacoenen@gmail.com if you have any questions. Hella
