Event description

Art as Catalyst

October 2 | Julian Louis (NORPA) With Poppy Walker
As the Northern Rivers continues to reckon with recovery after the 2022 floods, creativity has emerged as a powerful force for healing, renewal, and connection. In this Toast conversation, NORPA Artistic Director Julian Louis is joined by award-winning film director and writer, Poppy Walker to explore how artists are responding to crisis through bold, place-based work.

From immersive theatre in community halls to experimental circus inspired by climate grief, Julian and Poppy share insights from NORPA’s upcoming production Dinner Party at the End of the World—a work born from flood recovery, but fuelled by courage, generosity, and imagination.

A session for anyone curious about how creativity can help rebuild not just infrastructure, but identity.
