The milk’s chilled, the dice are set, and 24 of WA’s best will step up for four knockout rounds to see who takes the crown. It kicks off with head-to-head heats, where the dice call your pour pattern and milk of choice. Make it through the early rounds and you’ll free pour in the semis—before facing the ultimate finals test.
No etching tools, no shortcuts—just skill, steady hands, and the pressure of a live crowd. Expect surprise twists, big energy, and bragging rights on the line… plus prize money and epic goodies from our sponsors.

COMPETITION FORMAT
24 Competitors | Knockout format across 4 rounds
Round 1 – 24 Competitors (12 Heats)
🎲 Dice roll to decide: Latte art pattern & Milk selection
Round 2 – 12 Competitors (6 Heats)
🎲 Dice roll to decide: Latte art pattern & Milk selection
Round 3 – Semi-Finals (6 Competitors / 3 Heats)
Free pour (barista’s choice of pattern)
🎲 Dice roll for milk selection
Round 4 – Finals (3 Competitors)
Free pour (barista’s choice of pattern)
Milk: Brownes Dairy Extra Creamy Full Cream
Competitors pour twice and present their preferred cup to judges
Scored technically using a judging sheet
RULES
All heats are head-to-head (except the final: 3 competitors).
Rounds 1 & 2:
Single shot pulled by a volunteer
Served in a 6oz ceramic cup
Rounds 3 & 4:
Double shot pulled by a volunteer
Served in a 10oz ceramic cup
Competitors may opt for a single shot or pull their own
Competitors may use their own jugs or use provided ones.
No etching tools allowed in any round.
Finalists (Round 4) may pour two attempts and choose their best for judging.
MC will roll the dice to determine latte art and milk in Rounds 1 & 2. They may also invite judges, competitors, or spectators to roll the dice at their discretion.
Possible surprise rounds may be added by the MC (e.g. change of cup, left-hand pour, etc.)

JUDGING CRITERIA:
Rounds 1-3: 3 judges - majority vote decides the winner of each head-to-head, judges point to the preferred pour on count of 3
What judges look for:
Visual Appeal: Contrast between espresso and milk, clarity of lines
Successfully Achieved: Was the intended pattern executed correctly?
Round 4 – Finals (Scored out of 30 points):
