A supportive and calm environment, helping you enjoy being creative with your kids, knowing you don’t have to clean up afterwards!

Toddler and pre-school Art Playgroup in the Inner West of Melbourne.

Suits kids 1-5 years old (younger siblings welcome and free).

What will we be doing?

While it's rainy and cold, our weekly fun will be indoors.

There will be blank butchers paper all over the floor!

This is a giant invitation to play with lots of crayons, pencils, stamps, textas and more ready to try out and do whatever they like with them.

Today we will be making some dream catchers that you can take home.
This can be something you can do together with your little one, having a special morning together.

There will be materials to use, things to stick on, weave around, thread beads to, and whatever they would like to add on.
They could look like anything by the end!
But they will be sweet.

We will also be having fun:

drawing, scribbling and stamping their hearts out
lots of painting
using special window crayons to draw on the windows
colouring in sheets on clipboards that they can walk around with
standing up with a kids easel
playing and being creative with blocks
and having lots of fun!

These sessions are more about learning to love art, than creating any final masterpiece. The kids are always encouraged to express themselves however they like and be creative, so if they are more interested in mixing all the coloured paint together and putting handprints on the paper than anything else, it's more than fine! They will still enjoy themselves. :)

Why should I come?

It's lots of fun.
Helps your child be creative and learn to love art.
An opportunity to do something different.
Meet new people – both you and your child.
Helps build fine motor skills.
Helps with pre-writing skills.
Can help teach kids that mess is ok, and making mistakes is ok too.
You don't have to think of an art activity to do at home.
You don't have to clean up afterwards!

This is also a great way to give your kids the experience of painting and making lots of mess, if you the parent are a bit apprehensive about making that mess yourself at home. Come to my sessions and make the mess with me, keeping your house clean.

There is no pressure and a very easy going environment. There will be lots of scribbles, there will be smooshes of paint that you can't recognise as a picture, and there will be some great photos that you can take.

Extra info

Snacks and breastfeeding welcome.
I'll be taking photos throughout the morning and using them for marketing and promotional purposes. If you'd prefer your child is not included please simply let me know.
We will be painting, so please dress accordingly!
I have some art smocks, but only a limited amount. Depending on how many children attend, there may not be enough for all. If you have your own art smock please bring it along.
If your child has any allergies please let me know, as I often use recycled fruit cartons etc.
The center have asked that we all sign in as a visitor when entering. This is on an iPad on the reception desk.
We are in a community room inside the 'Newport Gardens Early Years Centre' - which is the same room that the Hobsons Bay Toy Library uses on a Thursday and Saturday. To find us, simply walk into the building, and turn left at the reception desk.
There is free car parking at the venue.
