Event description

Toi Ki Tua is a Māori Internship Programme developed to unlock the potential of our people, place and industries across the Bay of Plenty.

With more than one-third of the Bay of Plenty’s population and forty-four per cent of the future workforce being of Māori descent, and forty-eight per cent of the current Māori workforce operating in low-skilled, low-paid positions, it’s crucial for the Bay of Plenty region that programmes like Toi Ki Tua exist to bridge the gap for the next generation of Māori into higher value career pathways.

The Toi Ki Tua programme offers a strategic approach to nurturing and developing the skills and capabilities from within the region for our future job opportunities.

By providing the next generation with internship opportunities for professional development, mentorship, and hands-on experience within the industry, we can cultivate a pipeline of skilled professionals who can contribute meaningfully to the growth and innovation of our region.

This summer the programme is expanding to include high-value opportunities across Primary Industries, the Built Environment and local government sectors.

If you're an employer within the Bay of Plenty interested in finding out more about this programme and how you can get involved, we invite you to come along to an employer information session!

You’ll hear:

  • about the latest programme developments
  • from an experienced Toi Ki Tua employer, and their tips and tricks for setting up an internship
  • from one of our student alumni on how the programme has helped them to get where they are today

When:   4:00 pm - 5:30 pm, Thursday 4th July 2024
Where:  Toi Kai Rawa, 96 Cameron Rd, Tauranga CBD

RSVP’s are essential, so register now!
