Ethics in Creative Arts with Associate Professor Mike Grimshaw
Topic: Considering ethics in art practice, creative projects, and programmes. This workshop will explore best practice and process when creating artwork or creative programmes. What are the ethical considerations when working with volunteers, vulnerable groups, friends, or even more-than human subjects and ideas? How can artists and arts workers develop projects and programmes that uphold good relationships, honour the input and ideas of collaborators, and develop safe ways of navigating conflict? Come along to this workshop to learn about the ethics of your creative practice – it’s not about what you do, but how you do it.
About Mike: Associate Professor Mike Grimshaw is an interdisciplinary scholar at the University of Canterbury. He works across a number of related areas, primarily sociology and history but also politics and wider culture. He chaired the UC Human Ethic Committee, developed and wrote the Fine Arts Human Ethics guidelines and is a member of AOTEAROA RESEARCH ETHICS COMMITTEE Te Roopu Rapu i te Tika
