Tonality Presents: Just Me

Just Me is a powerful evening of music centered on the lived experiences of transgender and non-binary individuals, presented by Grammy-winning vocal ensemble Tonality under the direction of Dr. Alexander Lloyd Blake.

With open-hearted singing and fearless honesty, Tonality transforms the concert space into one of solidarity, reflection, and care. Through original works and soulful arrangements, Just Me celebrates the resilience of the trans and non-binary community while inviting audiences to listen deeply to stories too often marginalized or unheard.

The program explores identity, belonging, and self-truth, honoring journeys shaped by courage in the face of injustice. This is not simply a concert, but a gathering space: a place to witness, to empathize, and to hold one another through music.

Selections include the spiritual “Abide With Me,” “We Hold Your Name Sacred” by transgender Mexican-American composer Mari Esabel Valverde, “Let Your True Self Sing” by gay Venezuelan immigrant Carlos Cordero, and “The Circle” by Allan Robert Petker, a reflection on how love expands to encompass all. The program also features two beloved songs that have become touchstones within the LGBTQ+ community: “Reflection” from Mulan and “True Colors,” made iconic by Cyndi Lauper and later named by Billboard as one of The 100 Greatest LGBTQ+ Anthems of All Time.

This performance is offered on a pay-what-you-can basis to prioritize access and community care. A suggested ticket price is provided, and all are welcome to give at a level that feels accessible.
