UTS Design: Cameron Tonkinwise x Lucy Kimbell
Description
Prof. Lucy Kimbell in conversation with Prof. Cameron Tonkinwise
on Design | Futures | Policy | Politics
Designers design futures. Futurists design designs. Designers help policy designers. Policy makers design futures. Educators create social futures through students. How can the creative design of futures help or even challenge policy makers as they (re)design policies? Is this a future that could be designing design education?
Professor Lucy Kimbell (Contemporary Design Practices, Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London) convenes the Policy Futures Studio at CSM. Her research explores service design, social design and design for policy. She is co-director of the international Sustainable Transitions through Democratic Design Doctoral Network funded by the EU Marie Curie programme and led the Design and Public Policy Research Network funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. An innovator in post-graduate education, she taught design on the MBA at Said Business School, University of Oxford for 15 years, delivered executive education in design thinking and service design, and helped set up the MBA at Central Saint Martins. She is serving on REF 2029 Sub-panel 32: Art and Design: History, Practice and Theory.
