Tony Buck and Abby Sundborn Reeves at Florence St Studios
Description
Tony Buck has just completed a hugely successful national tour with iconic trio, The Necks. We are excited to present him for his last Australian concert before he returns to Berlin. Tony will perform in duo with Peter Knight (trumpet) a combination the two have presented in Europe a number of times. This will be the duo's Australian premiere.
Also performing is brilliant next generation cellist and composer, Abby Sundborn Reeves for a rare solo performance of work she first presented at Phoenix Central Park in Sydney more than a year ago.
More program announcements to come. Stay tuned!
Tony Buck - drums
Tony is regarded as one of Australia’s most creative and adventurous exports, with vast experience across the globe. As a drummer, percussionist, improviser, guitarist, video maker and producer, he has been involved in a highly diverse array of projects but is probably best known around the world as a member of the trio “The Necks”.
Abby Sundborn Reeves - cello
Abby is a cellist and composer working across classical and experimental contexts. Her work explores texture, form, and embodiment, as well as the relationships between acoustic and electronic sound and place.
Peter Knight - trumpet/electronics
Peter is a composer, trumpeter, and curator whose practice thrives in the spaces between genres, categories, and cultures. His recent solo work extends the possibilities of his instrument with innovative approaches that interweave acoustic preparations, extended techniques with electroacoustic processing via laptop, vintage delays, and tape machines.
There will be merchandise and drinks available at the performance. All proceeds direct to artists.
The venue is in Melbourne's inner west just a few train stops from the city. Address is shared when on ticket purchase.
