Tools and Independence
Event description
The Power to Transform: using tools to develop independence and resilience
Join the Educated by Nature team in this 2-hour workshop for educators and parents.
The ability to build and create provides opportunities to develop confidence and independence. Developing an 'I can' attitude and saying 'Yes' to children encourages self-sufficiency and autonomy which translates to other areas of school and home life. This workshop empowers teachers to confidently use hand tools and other technical equipment in structured and open-ended learning experiences to enhance student creativity and engagement. Practical skills are accompanied by the development of risk management techniques and safe practices.
The following Professional Learning workshop has been designed to consider the whole child in their development through interaction with nature in a school or early learning environment. Trudi and Daniel combine child development theory with storytelling and experiential activities. Their aim is to help educators take the first steps required to commence, reinvigorate or enhance outdoor learning possibilities.
This workshop has been designed with reference to the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership Teaching Standards. Standards 1.1, 1.2, 1.5, 3.1, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 3.6, 4.1, 4.2, 4.4, 6.1, 6.2, 6.4, 7.4
