Visit the Gabba, one of Australia's most iconic sporting venues, and explore over 130 years of history at the heart of Brisbane's sporting life.

The land was set aside as a cricket ground in 1895, with the first match held on 19 December 1896. Since then the Gabba has hosted Test cricket, AFL, rugby league, rugby union, and more, cementing its place as a cornerstone of Brisbane's sporting and cultural identity.

Between 1993 and 2005 the stadium was redeveloped in six stages into the venue Brisbane knows today, spanning four levels with light towers standing 80 metres tall. Beneath it all, a heritage-listed stormwater drain continues to flow quietly, a reminder of the layers of history beneath the city's surface.
