Tour of the National Rugby Training Centre

Step inside the National Rugby Training Centre at Ballymore, a world-class facility home to the Queensland Reds, the Wallaroos, and the future of Australian rugby.

Completed in May 2023 and designed by Brisbane practice Blight Rayner, the centre houses the Queensland Reds Men's and Women's teams, the Reds Academy, and the Australian Women's Rugby Team. It includes a 750m² gym, an aquatic recovery centre, and a 3,010-seat grandstand accommodating everything from Wallaroo internationals to club and school finals.

Where most high-performance facilities keep their components separate, the NRTC opens its spaces to each other, fostering a sense of shared purpose among players, coaches, and administrators. The high-performance gymnasium, the largest component, connects visually and physically to the external realm.

Blight Rayner is also preparing a masterplan for the wider Ballymore precinct, expanding community accessibility and enabling the colocation of related sports organisations. This guided tour will be led by the architects at Blight Rayner, offering a rare look behind the scenes of one of Australia's most ambitious new sporting facilities.
