Tour of the Queensland Country Women’s Association

Built in 1937, the Queensland Country Women’s Association (QCWA) Coolangatta has been a much-loved part of the local community for almost 90 years.

Established during a period when Coolangatta was growing as a popular seaside holiday destination, the building reflects the important role the QCWA played in supporting women, families and community life across the Gold Coast. Over the decades, the hall has been much more than a meeting place. It has hosted craft and fundraising activities, wartime sewing efforts, social gatherings and community events, and by around 1940 was also home to a baby clinic.

Generations of local women and families have gathered here for friendship, support and shared activities. Still serving the community today, the QCWA Coolangatta offers visitors an opportunity to step inside a modest but significant heritage place and discover the stories of community, connection and service that have shaped Coolangatta since the 1930s.
